Recommendations please for a JPEG editing program

A friend of mine has recently bought a 550D,and as yet hasn't downloaded the images onto her laptop.I can show her how to do that, but she needs a reasonable editing program now.

Any suggestions for a not too complicated free one please? The likes of LR and Photoshop are way beyond her capabilities at present, just something for basic editing would be ok.

I would suggest using the Canon editing software that comes with the Camera DPP (Digital Photo Professional)
If your friend didn’t get that software with the camera it is downloadable from both the Canon UK and USA websites.

Hi Peter, thanks for that, but I'd need to show her how to use any program, and I haven't got a clue with DPP I'm afraid, because I only use LR for my images.

Presuming she has a MS laptop why not start with the windows "photos" that's already there?

You can easily crop, rotate and change brightness, clarity and colour saturation.

Roy, I use a free (they do ask for a small donation) program called FastStone Image Viewer. It's quite intuitive and actually has more features than you'd expect I've been using it for years and seldom have wanted or needed a more powerful editor. A google search will bring up a link.

Thanks Chip I've heard of that one.

Next time I see my friend I'll tell her of all the choices offered on here.
