    Grey Heron fishing

    Ibsley Water at Blashford is currently chock a block full of small common carp, which are encouraging large number of heron and cormorant for a quick snack in front of the hide

    Here is one from this morning

                That looks like more than a quick snack!
                Despite seeing a great many Herons over last couple of years fishing in the dykes and I have seen them strike, catch and swallow fish but only from a distance, have never been close enough to photograph the action

                  this is the location where for the previous four of five years the kingfishers have been very active but not so this year to be replaced by loads of herons and cormorants taking advantage
