    Challenge 147 Abstract

Having looked back at the subject matter of the previous challenges, mainly for inspiration but to also look for a subject that wasn't too challenging. But that gave plenty of scope for free thinking. I did initially consider reusing the first ever subject matter in these forum challenges. However rather than just reuse that subject I decide just to use it as an underlying theme* for this challenge.

To help to get your creative juices flowing for this challenge. I thought this quotation (thanks go to Wiki) from a John Suler in his essay "Photographic Psychology: Image and Psyche".

"Here’s the acid test: If you look at a photo and there’s a voice inside you that says 'What is it?'….Well, there you go. It’s an abstract photograph."

I make no apologies for copying and pasting the following rules from Barbara's Challenge 146

Judging will be based on the following:-

    * fulfilling the brief
    * a good photo based on composition, focus and consideration to the light.
    * Having impact. Will I remember your image after I go away from the computer?

As ever I'll do my best to give friendly and constructive comments and find a winner based on my criteria stated above, bearing in mind my strictly amateur status

For those new or shy on this forum, I particularly encourage you to enter. Hopefully in doing so you will challenge yourself and have a bit of fun at the same time.

    The usual rules apply:-
    • The competition subject shall be selected by the winner of the preceding competition who will also judge the competition.
    • One picture per person; images should conform to general image posting rules.
    • Please use a Canon DSLR.
    • Posted images should be taken during the running period of the competition. Any images submitted that were taken before the competition started, or after the competition has ended, will be deemed invalid.
    • Images 800 pixels widest maximum (to help those with small monitors).
    • No Photoshop frames and borders.
    • Include a title; the image must convey the theme without title description.
    • Please, NO comments on images- on this or another thread- until the round is over.
    • No canvassing e.g. “I’m thinking of posting this image for the challenge, what do you think?”
    • I will pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourite images (please don’t PM me to discuss my choices).

Closing date for entries is midnight Friday 26th October - Hopefully sufficient time to get the creative juices flowing.

    * for those who scrolled down to see what the asterisk was for:-

The first ever challenge subject matter from March 2010 was "Fun". Hence my reuse of it as a theme, so please do have fun and have a go.

I have occasionally been told that I'm not a pheasant plucker, but in this case I was.
