Candid wedding shots at my son’s wedding, which camera and body?

I am the mother of the groom. The ceremony will be in a Glass House/Conservatory in a park, then the reception and evening do will be in a small venue. Only about 40 guests. They have a professional photographer for the ceremony, and the reception, but want friends and family to upload images from the evening to his Google Drive.

I have the 80D, 77D and 200D. Small(ish) lenses include: the latest versions of EF-S 18-50mm, 18-135mm and 18-200mm. I only want to take one camera and lens. Don’t want the inconvenience of carrying large EF lenses.

I want to go light weight, but don’t want to regret my decision! Originally thought just the 200D and 18-50mm, it might fit in my handbag, but would I regret not having a longer zoom? Also considering the 77D and the 18-135mm, and maybe a flash Speedlight 430EX II, in a small bag (working on my husband to carry it!)

What would you choose, and why? Please advise me.

I assume that as ther have a professional they only want casual shots so I wouldn’t go in looking like a competitor to the Pro.....so I’d go with the 200D and 18-55.....and maybe take the flash too. If the circumstance unfold that there is opportunity to do something more involved why not take the whole kit but leave it in your car/room in readiness should you want to use it.

Good idea. They are all within walking distance, so could leave some in the car or room. Just didn’t want to carry a huge handbag! Thanks.

I think you should treat yourself to a 24STM....benefits of being really small and at least a stop faster than the zoom...really sharp and inexpensive.

Very tempting. I am getting more into street photography since going on Nina’s B+W London day, but feel more brave with a zoom. Have definitely bookmarked that one though! Thanks.

I ended up using the 77D with the 18-135mm lens and, and occasionally the flash.
The weather was against us. It rained, so all the images were taken inside the Temperate Glasshouse, and of course all were back lit, or had a huge decaying palm leaf on the edge that had to be cropped out. I was so tempted to snap it off! My images are not too bad considering, but no competition winners.
The professional photographer and his back-up were taking pictures all the time, so I didn’t want to spoil their images with my flash.
My son can be a bit funny about images of him on the internet, so unfortunately I will not upload any.
