      Its a really lovely image, John, but you know what (can't believe I'm saying this because I'm forever wiping my images of all evidence of other people), of the two I prefer it with him in it. He is lit so beautifully he seems an integral part of the scene, compositionally he is perfectly placed and it changes the story from 'here's a lovely sunset' (of which there are many) to 'photographing a lovely sunset' (of which there are fewer).
      That all said, if you'd only shown the edited version I wouldn't be saying, 'oh that would be so much better if there was someone in the way...'
