    Spoonbill Reflection

Having spent a couple of hours shooting the red squirrels on Brownsea on Saturday, we went along to the lower hide overlooking the lagoon but as usual for the past few visits very few birds visible and fewer close enough to photograph. I happened to point the lens towards the Mac hide and to my surprise spotted a spoonbill feeding right in front of that hide. Very unusual as they mostly stay on the far side of the lagoon. So quickly gathered our things up and hot footed it the the other hide where for the next hour, the spoonbill, a juvenile, continued to feed. So close that most shots were with the 150-600 @ 150mm

That is a lovely shot Stan, very unusual to see them that close as you say they normally prefer the far side of the lagoon

in all the years and many visits to Brownsea, I have never seen one so close, nearest probably mid way between the hide and far side of the lagoon. This being a juvenile, according to the warden, probably didnt know better
