    Sunrise on Saturday

I mentioned in another post that I'd been up before dawn to capture the sunrise and this is it:

Great shots John, I am never up early enough for sunrises, have grabbed a few sunsets though.

                    Re: Sunrise on Saturday

Both lovely John, but the first takes my award - there is a school of thought regarding sunsets/rises that you should not attempt to "get it all in" and should take a more localised shot such as your second. In this case however, there is SO much lovely sky in the first shot that it would be a crime not to get it in. Well done!!

                      Thanks folks

John: I've never heard that but can appreciate it as attempting to 'get it all in' is always going to reduce the sun to an insignificant little spec and, even though that's what happened in the first, I intended it to capture the sky with the tiny orange dot just providing a bit of context. The second was, well, who doesn't like something big and orange

Dave: I'm rarely, if ever, up early enough for sunrises either so simply point the camera out of the bedroom window... then go back to bed hopefully before my feet have got too cold

                      Cheers,
                      John

Both lovely, John, each with loads to commend them. Great golden colours, lovely textures in the clouds in the first, and spectacular halo above and reflection below in the second.
