    Its goodby ater 8 years

The time for renewal came round and I looked at the last few issues. Most of the contents were press hand outs from canon and adds. One may be two articles of interest, so no I'm not renewing I get plenty of messages from Canon with out having to pay for them and there are plenty of magazines on photography I find I get more from.

That’s a shame John...the magazine is an invaluable reference for the technical aspects of using canon gear....such content is seldom covered in Canon media....and very valuable when you change model
You don’t need to leave the forum which I’d also a great resource of course.

I second Brian's comments. I have kept my old copies and refer to them for both the reasons given above.

I don't get to read other photography mags although when a forum member had an article in it a few months ago, I obtained a copy of Digital SLR photography. Interesting but not specific to Canon so pages and pages of stuff I skipped.

Have to say I trawl the Internet and You Tube but there's something cosy about the EOS mag and I'm sticking with it !

As Brian says, no need for you to go away !

I am the Training Officer of my local camera club and I often refer to articles in EOS magazine when teaching. The technical articles, updates etc are a superb resource and I have to say that of the 4 photography magazines that I read the EOS magazine is one I would miss the most. Clearly any magazine dedicated to a single marque is going to contain company handouts. These are useful as they are in written rather than electronic form.
The quality of the technical articles in the magazine is excellent and always pertinent as it only refers to Canon equipment rather than being general, as in other magazines.

I haven't renewed yet but will do. It's not that I don't value the editorial (although concede there is a lot of Canon material) I simply don't seem to have the time to sit down and read magazines these days.

          Cheers,
          John

This is why I haven’t renewed yet. No time to read it at the moment. Hopefully will change next year.

I must admit I had a few gap years when I lost my way and tried smaller format cameras.....when I came back I had the electronic and print subscription with access to all the back issues which was really good as I could swat up on all the new models.

I'm mindful of supporting via subscription as it supports the forum and access to expert knowledge.

I may be joining you in not resubscrbing. I never received the Jan issue and I never got any replies to two emails. Why should I care if they don’t?

@terrycym I've just replied to your email that you sent yesterday.

I'll be checking personally to find out what happened to your previous emails, though my best guess at this stage would be that they weren't received/were incorrectly filtered out by our spam filter. I'm confident that we'd never knowingly or deliberately ignore an email from a subscriber!

We'll also get a replacement copy of the January-March 2019 issue in the post to you tomorrow.

Posts mentioning the unavailability of time to read the magazine caused me to ponder why?
In every week we have 168 hours.
                    So given there are 7 days in every week;
Allow 59.5 hours for working (8.5 hours every day)
Allow 56 hours for sleeping (8 hours every day)
Allow 21 hours for eating (3 hours every day)
Allow 28 hours for socialising (4 hours every day)
You surely would be left with half an hour when you could read a little of the magazine each day
Of course if you don't work or only do so for 5 days a week you should have loads of extra time ?
As the magazine only comes out every 4 months (roughly 121.5 days) and it averages roughly 80 pages, you could read 1 page a day and still have 40 odd days with nothing to do?
I don't always read every page but some pages get read several times and I still have time for all the other things in life so I think it would be unwise to unsubscribe just because you didn't receive a copy or you were short of time occasionally.
Please accept this as just my thoughts and no offence is meant at all.
I do find that apart from the magazine, there is an absolute feast of really useful comment and help on the forum so I will continue to subscribe.
OH - and my very best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
                    John.

I stopped all of the normal Camera Mags many years ago. They have far too many adverts, deal with Camera systems I have no interest in and seem to regurgitate the same articles on a 6 year cycle.

The EOS Magazine is my only Camera Mag. It is highly relevant to my Camera System, just a few relevant adverts, new and interesting articles and I get to post on this Forum. I am considered an advanced user and on that basis I may not read every page, but I thoroughly enjoy the rest and learn many new things from each issue. I also like the quarterly format.

The EOS Magazine is the only photographic magazine that I take now. It covers all my needs and more. It's a well produced magazine and I congratulate the team that puts it together.

EOS Magazine is quite simply the only magazine you need as a companion to the best camera system around.

My library is intact from the first issue although I admit that all copies of its predecessor Canon User (?) have long been recycled!

I do enjoy reading the magazine, albeit will often skip over the bits that are not of direct interest me, and I will continue to subscribe for the foreseeable future. I have looked at a variety of monthly photo mags, but they are all "much of a much", so I don't bother with them. Amateur Photographer is pretty much "cover to cover" adverts. I do however subscribe to Photo Plus (Canon Edition), as it is product specific, and has articles of image processing, and related software. I do find the monthly "Pro and Apprentice" section, covers too many pages, is a bit boring, and skip over these pages. So, to summarise, EOS Magazine and Photoplus (Canon) Magazine, cover my needs nicely, and I will continue to subscribe to both.

I used to get Practical Photrogrpahy for nearly 25 years, then switched to Digital Camera but eventually gave up on both as they constantly regurgitate articles - you know come autumn there will be articles on how to capture autumn colour etc but have subscribed to EOS Magazine since 2006 and it's the one I look forward to the most. It constantly surprises me that they manage to come up with new technical articles that make me think, "I didn't know my camera could do that, I'll have to give it a try"

I also get the RPS mag as I'm working towards my LRPS - a completely different style of magazine which can be very good but sometimes a little too pretentious ;)

I subscribe to a few other mags too so appreciate that EOS Mag is quarterly, just about right for me. Good job I took early retirement; I'm too busy to fit in work as well
