    Waiting for a train?

For some reason I found this amusing I think it may be a deep-buried memory of a similar scene in a very old cartoon

    interesting shot John

That is a hell of a lot of workers to change, what ??

Explains why train fares are so high these days

      Thanks Stan

They'd replaced some sleepers the other day and were back settling the ballast but quite why this needed so many is a mystery in fact, there were far fewer involved in the more complex task of sleeper replacement

Looks like there could be nine white helmeted supervisors and five blue helmeted workers. Probably about the usual ratio

Interesting - I think they are known as the Orange Army, was this the Dawlish Line which has again taken a pounding.

The line at Dawlish took another pounding this week but, as far as I know, there wasn't any damage caused. What did happen, however, is that a rail replacement service was introduced 'just in case'. So no, this scene of absent industry was on the Paignton branch.
