Red Deer Stag at high ISO

It was a very dull, wet day and late afternoon when I was by Loch Arkaig and the deer were close to the road. In two minds about bothering with a shot or two.

Set the 6D to auto ISO and fitted the 100-400 L11, forgot to set in camera noise reduction. A series of shots and having looked at their awful appearance on the rear screen thought about deleting all. Might as well see what can be done with them.

Brought RAW into Lightroom, adjusted white balance and lens profile then noise reduction and a little crop. Edit in Elements15 for a bit more noise reduction on the TIFF and save as jpg. No sharpening apart from standard for screen on export from LR. No other adjustments.

1/250 @F8 25600 ISO I was very surprised at the result.(bigger one on Flickr)

I would say that is very acceptable. My type of shot totally wild creature in its natural environment - lovely
