    Arches

Twelve miles inland at Totnes this is the first (or last depending on perspective) bridge on the River Dart. With a very low yet strong sun on the downstream side and big shadows upstream this called for a fair bit of processing to balance the light. Was I successful? Please tell:

I think this works well.....the right half has relatively little colour being mostly the stone of the bridge and the leading lines of the stonework link to the left where all the colour is.....a picture of two halves linked together….well that's my analysis....I like it!

Nice shot, My initial thought was that the foreground wall could do with being a little less bright but having looked several times, have now changed my mind. One thing that doesn't look right though, is the grey building above the far end of the bridge.

Thanks folks, glad you liked it.

Yes, that house was a problem being painted white and in the full glare of the sun it was inevitably going to be blown and I wish I'd had the foresight to bracket the shot. As it is my clumsy attempt at toning it down only succeeded in turning it a nasty grey.

            Cheers,
            John

Might be worth making it a colour rather than trying to turn down the white, something like a pale pink or pastel blue might work...

Thanks for the suggestion, Nigel, I agree totally so got out a pot of primrose which seemed to go with the surroundings and have updated Flickr.
