I like the composition with the train on the diagonal and you seem to have the full range of tones from black to white although i would agree that perhaps the lightened areas a a little too light.
Well done for getting the shot with the train coming the right way - so often with Swanage the good compositions are spoiled by the engine being coupled backwards

It was a very dull & misty day & the colour shot didn't really work.
The first B&W also looked flat despite boosting the contrast.
The idea was to isolate the train & I think that succeeds. I do however agree that the lightened areas look too over exposed. I'll have a another go!
Stan - this was the first time I'd visited the railway and having looked at the timetable & our schedule I set off to Corfe Castle to get the train going back to Swanage. As you say it was running tender first! I returned later to catch the shot from the footbridge.Bob
