    14th Dec Waxing Crescent Moon

The sky tonight at 6:30pm was incredibly clear so as i hadn't shot the moon for awhile i thought i would see what i could get.

14th Dec Moon by Glenn.B, on Flickr

The Moon today is in a Waxing Crescent Phase. A Waxing Crescent is the first Phase after the New Moon and is a great time to see the features of the moon's surface.

    Phase: Waxing Crescent
    Illumination: 41%

    Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
    EF600mm f/4L IS II USM +1.4tc III
    840.0 mm ƒ/6.3 1/250sec iso500

Hope you like and if you have time get out there a take a photo of the moon the sky is crystal clear.

Cracking shot Glenn. A partial moon is far more interesting than a full moon. The extra contrast provides depth to the craters you just don't get on a full moon.

The quality of that image is so good that it can't be a heavy crop, so you must be wielding that 600 and an extender!

Hi Colin, I used the Canon 5d MkIV + 600mm +1.4tc mounted on a tripod.

Thanks for the comment and Happy Christmas to you, maybe we will catch up in 2019 ?

That's a corker I have noticed the clear skies recently but haven't yet been quite motivated enough.
