    Christmas Cake !

Thought I'd give the birds in the garden a treat this Christmas, made them a Christmas Cake
I was quite pleased with it, showed it to Mrs B, her comment was 'Well someone had to marry you'

Well done Trev, very attractive; I hope that it also attracts lots of birds for you. I may have to do something similar to get some back here as well, there seems to be quite a dearth, the highlight this week were a few starlings today.

Thanks Ian, Tigerburnie. Put it out this morning it's now half gone, had three Great-spotted Woodpeckers on it at one time plus a Nuthatch jumping in when it could

What was in the cakey part, apart from seeds, to keep it all together?

                Recipe please ..............

lunarbo, Dripping which I get from my butcher then melt it down. Four pounds (sorry I'm still in pound shilling and pence) of mixed seed, sunflower hearts, oats, chopped peanuts and dried mealworms. Mixe all together and pour into a bread tin. When cool put it in the freezer.
I make six at a time, normally I cut them up and put out chunks of it. Seeing it was Christmas this one went out whole.
Far better than the fat balls you buy and cheaper, if you feed the birds you already got the seed etc. Just go to the butcher and ask for the fat, they throw it out.

Thanks Trev. I learn something everyday.

Obviously scrummy if you’re a bird!
