Re: Driver and his fireman on the plate

        Oh I do like that.

The intense look of concentration with both focussed on what is happening. Placed on the thirds, with lead in lines from the front of the engine provides a powerful composition and attracts your eye to the focal points of the driver and mate.

If I were judging this I would score it 91/2 out of 10. For the extra 1/2 mark, you would need to make the "blob" to rear of the engine disappear and perhaps darken/de-saturate the foliage top right.

        Very well seen and taken.

If you don't mind Tony, I thought I could illustrate my earlier comments.

A quality image improved by Colin's adjustments, have you thought about a B&W version?

Great shot, captured the grime and grittiness perfectly.

                        Glad to help Tony.

I am always a little concerned when tweeking other member's images, but it does make the point a lot easier than lots of suggestions.

I also thought 'the blob' was distracting from a really nice image and would have done the same as Colin. I like the mono edit but still prefer the colour one.

Very nice shot - can I mention there is a similar shot you took on the Railways of Leicestershire Flickr Group where the driver is looking straight at the lens. In my opinion it's just as good.
