    Grey Squirrel

Kept me company this morning while I cut down one of its favourite trees for next years log supply!
They hang around because they know I throw down nuts for the Pheasants. Too many around again, wife counted fourteen around the bird feeders the other morning. - time again for me to take action them to take cover!

Not on my list of favourite critters, but beautifully posed and taken.

I assume the twin vermin splatterers are coming out for an airing?

Yes, don't like doing it but it is necessary, they do so much damage to the young trees, plus they are a pain around the bird table. Reduced the population by 169 last year but we still got a dozen plus again around the feeders at the moment.

Interesting that you mention that Tom.

We only had the endemic Red Squirrels here until twelve pairs were brought from the USA to feature in an aristocrats menagerie. The inevitable happened, some escaped and thrived in the local environment, eventually spreading through nearly the whole country, decimating the native Reds along the way.

I don't suppose there is any way you would like them back?

              Re: Grey Squirrel

Must be an easy shot with the gun as it sat nice & still for your camera, nice shot, would be so much better if it was a red.
Do you bother eating them Trev? I hear they are tasty.

                    Thanks everyone for your comments.
Not my favourite creature by far, but there is something about them! No matter how many I shoot, there always seems to be the same number about, they are worse than rats.
Someone asked had I eaten squirrel - yes some years ago when I was on a survival course. It is a bit like rabbit to the taste, I've also eaten Fox the only thing we were not allowed to eat was Rat.

Very typical squirrel pose. Love them or hate them, they are still one of God's creatures!

                            Nice pose, well caught.

I had one in the house recently, it was like watching Tom and Jerry as my Working Cocker chased it around
