    I see what Stan means

Trespassed onto Stan's manor for an hour or so this morning while on route to the New Forest.
See what he means the kingfishers are obsessed with that metal post Although I thought a nice dead lichen covered branch and some gaffer tape !!!!!!!!

Very nice, with a fish too. Well captured!

I've been considering a trip down to Stan's patch myself, although it's a fair trek. Whilst there are markedly more kingfishers on the local river at the moment (four sightings today) unfortunately they are really camera shy and often get scared off by dogs running around before I can get close.

Thanks Chris. When I was there this morning there were six or seven other photographers there and I met two other on route when I was going back to the car. So there's a lot of pictures around tonight of a kingfisher sitting aloft a girder

Re: I see what Stan means

I'd be happy with a girder given my best recent kingfisher shot is pretty mediocre!

Looks like he got a decent sized fish on that dive

but it is very close and they will land and fish without any concern for the photographers. The peak of activity seems to have passed as there have been far fewer sightings generally this week, doesnt stop me going down though

How long were you there, as i was there after Stanpit from around 10.45 to 12.15

I was there then, I got there at about 10.00 and left at about 11.30 I had to be in Lyndhurst at 12.30.
Which one was were you, I was the good looking one spent most of the time on the top corner of the out fall fence, had the sigma 150/600 there was a lady below me at the waters edge with a low level tripod set up. Just before I left a chap turned up with a large set up 500, tripod gimble head etc.
As I was walking back to the car there was a male Blackcap in the hedge. Most likely will look in again on my way back.

I was the good looking one but not standing by the outfall fence but along a little bit towards the little tree and was chatting to the guy with the big lens for a time when he turned up - it was a 600 with a 1Dx i found out

I got ya, you had a red coloured bobble hat on, I think at one point you came and took some shots next to me using the fence like me as a support.

I can fully understand why you never wanted to speak to me -- he with a 1Dx /600mm - me with a 7D Mkii / Sigma 150-600

Re: I see what Stan means

I'm just back home after popping down to "Stan's manor" today for a couple of hours. I got what I hope were some decent shots (by my standards, anyway) of both male on the metal post and female in the tree. Neither bird landed anywhere close other than those two spots! To be honest, I would have liked a bit more sunshine so it might not be my last trip down there.

My apologies Trev, I usually talk to most of the photographers down there and would certainly looked out for you had I known you were going to be there yesterday

It turns out that Stan and I met today although neither of us quite realised at the time.

Perhaps we need a "forum handshake"! Or maybe ask Robert to produce some badges.
