    On the local pond

    Though most of the water was iced over the Swans had cleared a section which the Mallards were pleased about.

    I think the Mallard is a tad dark and prefer the swan for the better light, a few water drops from the bill would have added something, if it had obliged

        Yes I can see that, it's mainly the green where the shadows need lifting a bit. Sadly, poor light is what we have to endure much of the time at this time of the year.

          I agree with Paul. If you don't have decent light then a mallard's head is never going to show its true colours without a bit of post-processing.

            The mallard is a bit dark and would benefit from lightening the exposure and lifting the shadows. The swan would have been great without the high lights in the background.
