Thanks Bo, I just read about that earlier. I might get everything ready Sunday evening and then see if a) I can get out of bed! and b) that the sky is clear although the forecast is not looking good for my area at the moment.

WHAT MOON It was there at 22.40 last night but gone at 04.30 this morning. Someone must have nicked it, the offender could well be someone by the name of Cloud

I got up at 6 this morning and wasn't expecting much as my house looks east where the sky was overcast. Anyway, I popped outside and looked west where the sky was crystal clear with a fabulous view of the moon showing a crescent thirds white with two thirds orange. It was well worth getting up for but I didn't photograph it as my past efforts have been dire.

              Cheers,
              John

Knowing that the moon was going to be visible from bedroom window, I took camera and telephoto upstairs, ready to just open the window and take the shot. Didn't set any alarm but was awake at 04-45 anyway. Got out of bed at 05-00, looked out of the window and saw a slightly hazy, reddish but darkish moon. Was completely underwhelmed and went back to bed without taking a shot. Not sure what I was expecting really. I agree with John, it actually looked better at about 06-15, still didn't take a shot though.

All I could see was a marginally lighter hint of the clouds.
