    Spotted Hyenas





    The first image is definitely a spotted hyena, a pregnant female, who had been wallowing in the mud to cool off. It was taken at Mala Mala in the Sabi Sand, South Africa just after Xmas and it was 43 degrees. Too hot!

    Number 2 may be the father as he was close by.

    Two great shots Brian of what is not one of my favourite mammals, although they do a sterling job in clearing up the left-over carcasses not wanted by other predators.

      was assuming it was mud all over the first so for the detail and the spots, the second is the winner
