    Goosanders - male & female

Not to be outdone by leeperry/Gary's local pond, my local river finally delivered a pair of goosanders yesterday. The female was reluctant to come out of the shadows but the male was more forthcoming. The light was good but I found it quite tricky to get good definition on both the head and the body so was constantly changing settings.

Well done Chris, every one a winner, but I think the second is my favourite. The pose, composition the iridescent colours and the control of the whites. Just missing out a touch on the full reflection.

Thanks Colin. I do have a full reflection in the original but unfortunately it's in the out-of-focus area (that you can just see starting at the bottom of the frame) and I made the decision to crop it out as it wasn't really clear enough to add anything to the shot in my view.

                  Thanks Trev.

They were both there again today, in a nice open spot, but as the light was absolutely awful today I didn't bother taking my camera out.
