Don't think I'd want to be rescued from that location, looks absolutely stunning. You can keep your warm beach holidays, give me locations like this any time.

Such bright light & white, white snow, well controlled to make a great shot.

Great light, makes me want to put on a woolly jumper though...

You would need more than one! The warmest we had all week was -16C and on the morning we left it was -34C!

Very nice John and I'm envious that you've been to as place I yearn for. Only comment I'd make is to wonder whether cropping a bit off the bottom to, say, where the light comes in from the left corner placing the hut on a third would strengthen the composition.

            Cheers,
            John

Nice shot! What I am REALLY impressed about is the DOF shot at f/2.8! Probably due to the wide angle of the 22mm lens, but impressive none-the-less!

Thanks H2OJunkie - if I recall correctly, I focussed on the cabin or the trees adjacent to it, which were about 10 metres or so from my position. With those figures, everything from about 4.5 metres to infinity is in acceptable focus. This is borne out by the nearest snow not being quite sharp.

Super shot, I do agree with John above though, you could afford to crop some of the dead ground off from the bottom

Thank you Paul & Tony T.

I had considered reducing the foreground, but since I am thinking of printing this, keeping the aspect ratio would mean losing some of tree on the right and I am reluctant to do that.

A 3:4 crop balances rather nicely... I often find that 3:2 is too elongated in the portrait orientation.

Thanks Nigel - I have footled about a bit in LR and set up a custom crop (1:1.414) to suit A4 paper, which is what I intended to print to.

The resulting crop seems to fit the bill!
