      super shot of the owl in lovely light but i find the bright highlights of the houses in the background a bit of a distraction and if mine i would crop just above the owls wingtip and also from the bottom to form a letterbox crop

        Thanks Trev and Stan , below is Stans suggestion on different crop , I prefer the original myself as I like to see more of the environment in the shots but this version has its merits

          that is spot on now, with no distractions, bringing the owl centre stage where he should be - a competition winner if ever there was one

                Both great shots Steve, but I agree with you, that’s where it flies & I bet half those houses have never even seen the owl.

                  Great shot, have you tried calling them in ? difficult to explain, but you put your mouth on your hand between thumb and index finger and suck making a sort of squeeking noise, doesn't have to be loud, but they do look where the noise is coming from. Kind of tricky if you are on your own holding a camera and big lens though lol.
