Nice one Stan, I assume the pine cones were there to hide the hazel nuts or were they Improvised Explosive Devices in case the Peacocks came along.

I was just going to say "Wot ..... no Peacocks", but Trev beat me to it.

Nice to see they still have their winter coat and ear tufts.

Lovely pose. I don't know whether it's my eyesight, the monitor or an illusion due to the background but it looks ever so slightly soft. I think it's the background playing tricks, being of similar tones and yet obviously OOF. Anyone else?

Nicely composed, I see what Chris means above, I think it's perhaps more to do with the light not being great

                thanks for looking guys

I assume the pine cones were there to hide the hazel nuts or were they Improvised Explosive Devices in case the Peacocks came along.
they had been placed on the log by someone else and i thought they would make a different shot and the nuts could be hidden out of view. We only managed about 20 minutes before the peacocks turned up en mass so we left them to it and came back again at lunchtime

the light was pretty good for the woodland and having double checked it looks sharp enough on my screen and also looks fine when printed. Must be the background confusing

Yes, I think it's an optical illusion. I didn't mean to cast aspersions on you posting a soft shot!

A nice composition, always try and get something a bit different myself.
