    Very trying targets

Spent a few hours chasing(literally at some points)Ospreys and Marsh Harriers hunting, so difficult to master with a narrow field of view in a 500mm lens, my wife did better with my 100-400 Canon. I will persevere and master this, the gimbal works great it's picking up the target and getting it in focus.

    Re: Very trying targets

You managed to catch them, looking at your Flickr page you must have been using a 1.4 converter giving 700mm - that would be very difficult to find the subject.

RSPB reserve Stan, so we are not allowed round the back as that's where they nest.

My 500 with a converter I put the screw on the lens hooks at 12 o'clock then do an initial line up by eye using the screw and top of the flash shoe.

            Your getting them though. :)

                  Re: Very trying targets

Quite fortunate in Kent, that we now see quite a few of them. They do tend to keep their distance though, at least they do when I’m around
Did manage to recently get, at a distance, the male dropping a frog to the female.

Thanks for the comments guys, practice will hopefully yield results, I am also getting the hang of manual focusing, something I have got out of the habit of doing.
