Last EF lens purchase - advice on wide angle zoom

I'm planning to buy a wide-angle zoom for my 5D4. This will have me covered from 16mm to 400mm with 3 lens and a 2x converter.

    I already have a 16 - 35 F/2.8 L Mk 2 and want to replace it with either the 16 - 35 f/2.8 L Mk 3 OR the 16 - 35 f/4 IS L.

This will be my last EF lens purchase as I'm thinking in the medium term I'll go mirrorless, but not for (I guess) at least 3 or 4 years.

Anyone had a chance to compare these 2 lens?

    Thanks!

    Nicholas

    Why replace the 16 - 35 F/2.8 L Mk 2 ?

Seems no point replacing your existing lens if you are seriously considering moving to mirrorless (presumably the R series) unless there is something seriously wrong with it. Seems economically wiser to not spend now but spend later on a system specific lens.

        That’s what I was wondering.

So I guess the answer is no :-)
