    Tawny Owl

_11I0090 by Russell Emm, on Flickr

Saw this young Tawny Owl on a strut of a gatepost, didn't get to close to disturb him/her opened one eye looked at me then went back to sleep. One parent came in the evening and fed it. Gone this morning. Amazing the flies that get on them especially round the eyes.

Nice shot Russell - sadly by the looks that bird is not well, its already under fly attack one eye close. Problem here is fly lay eggs - maggots - I won't go into further details, seen it so many times.

Thank you chaps. Trev there were loads of green bottles round it. I know ticks infest ground feeding birds, never thought about flies being a problem.
