    Re: Common Sandpiper

nice shot of the piper, although the background is a bit distracting and the bird centrally placed

For me it would work better cropping some off the top and the right side which would get rid of the "dead space" which occupies nearly 50% of the frame and would exclude the oof vegetation in the top corner

Yes I could remove the blurred bracken, but I like the open space, it puts the bird in it's habitat.

Agree with Stan regarding cropping some of the top and right hand side. The out of focus vegetation doesn’t bother me.

I'm going to be the odd one out here. I like it, the bird in a natural environment

Thanks John and Trev, I like to have part of the environment, I am not trying to produce images for an identification manual, rather a more natural look. At the end of the day all art is in the eye(or ear) of the beholder, I recently gave a small informal talk on my wildlife photography and I finished it by saying that as long as you are happy with the result, others opinions are just that, their opinions, no one is right, or wrong for that matter.

I agree Burnie, the bird is pin sharp & that should be what you want & look at.
