Re: Mono/popped Golden Gate Bridge
Thank you the two Johns.
I only tried this treatment because we had not been blessed with normal Californian sunshine on the day of our visit to the bridge. The resulting images were rather wishy-washy (see below) and so I thought that I might as well take the background to mono. I think that if the bridge were a more strident shade, it might have just worked.

Re: Mono/popped Golden Gate Bridge
I like the popped version.
The full colour is fine ….its a good composition and well exposed representation and a documentary shot.
The popped version makes the man made steel structure stand out from the surroundings.
Ask any one about the golden gate bridge and they will talk about its colour and not the colour of the rather dull landscape around it....so from a surrealist point of view it hits the spot?
Sorry....I'm reading Susan Sontag's - 'on photography' at the moment and I might be getting carried away!Brian Vickers LRPS

Re: Mono/popped Golden Gate Bridge
I prefer the popped version, for the same reasons as Brian but he articulated much better than I could have done so I'm glad he got there first. I do think it worth getting effort of deleting the boat, though.Canon EOS 7D
