    Africa Geographic photographic winner disqualified

I can't see this mentioned elsewhere on this forum so apologies if someone else has already posted about it, but I thought people might be interested in this addition to the perennial discussion on what is acceptable post-processing in a photographic competition context. It is interesting that it was considered acceptable to process the background to create a particular 'mystical' feel, but not to edit details of its recognisable anatomy.

It is not stated explicitly in the article, but you will see that the ears have been swapped, presumably to aid the composition.

There is a link in the blog to the new winner and runners up, some of which I think are stunning.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Alex. I used to read Africa Geographic when I was on safari as the camps put copies in the lodges. But it is now only on-line and I lost touch with it, but have now signed up to their newsletter.

Have to agree with you, some of the images are stunning.

It is a shame that anyone feels that they have to stoop to such deception.

However, the fascinating thing is the number of people making comments that the image has merely been "flipped" - although the tusks clearly have not - it does not give confidence in the level of critical judgement prevalent amongst the general population of photographers.
