    Braunton on the return 'English Riviera Express'

    Return workings call for a decent head of steam as from a standstill at Paignton it's a steep climb to the top of the bank at Hollicombe so advantage is taken of the stop to get a good fire going. Here, just before the summit, it's blowing off nicely with the steam mixing with a good bit of clag (and making quite a racket too ).

    Thats a cracking shot John,

    I have been watching the programme following Yorkshires railway, never realised that they run the gala in August when chilly as you get a greater steam effect. makes sense now I know.

              Yes, cold air are good for dramatic steam effects with Santa Specials especially worth shooting.
