    Buff-tailed bumble bee - I think! No doubt someone on here will put me right if its not.

          Sorry Trev, but it's a Tree Bumble (Bombus hypnorum) a newcomer to the UK since the turn of the century. Well known for nesting in bird boxes with a bright ginger thorax,

              I should make it clear though, it's the bee that has the bright ginger thorax - not the bird box!
