    Grass Snake II

    the same snake from Blashford a couple of weeks ago, similar shot but a much better head position

    It seems, you stood 1m before the snake! Dangerous but fascinating. Great shot!

      he was probably over a metre long but not venomous so quite safe

          I was the same till about 20 years ago when we were in Morocco with a tour and were introduced to a snake charmer and i was persuaded to have my picture taken with a snake draped around my neck - as with many people, i thought they were slimey but of course nothing can be further from the truth and since then i have not had a problem.

          Last year when i saw an adder at Blashford, I tried for a shot with my 300 f4 but there was grass in the way and needing to get closer than the min focus distance of 1.5 metres to avoid the grass, I took the shot with my macro lens

            Snakes are fascinating animals and I wish I'd seen more of our native species. This is a great image with lots of detail.
