Outside the Coventry Motor Museum there is a large paved area known as Millenium Place, which is surmounted by a very large structure - the Whittle Arch. This honours the contribution to aero engine development of Sir Frank Whittle, who designed and developed the first jet engine (and was born in Coventry). The structure is formed of aerofoil-section elements, reminiscent of turbine blades.
