    Whitethroat and Wren

    Hi,

Just returned from a trip to Pembrokeshire. Aimed to get over to Skomer without success. Arrived at 8.15 for any of the three sialings - 10, 11 or 12 - all booked up. People Queueing from 6.30 to get a ticket!! Seems to have got very popular - went over a couple of years ago turned up at 9.30 got on the 11.00 sailing!

Unfortunately had no other days free!! - so had to 'make do' with more easily accessible areas along the coast.

On a separate note - to clean the 1D3 sensor can I use full frame swabs or swabs for 1.6 crop body - can't seem to find many 1.3 crop swabs?

    Thanks

    Guy

      Re: Whitethroat and Wren

Two very nice images and with food is a definite bonus.

From the second week of June to the first week of July is very much the busiest time for Skomer. The more outside of that time frame you are, the easier it is to get on the Island. The reason is that the Pufflings are active and the parents are bringing sand eels back to the burrows. A photographers dream and that is why the queue from early morning. When I went last year, I joined the queue just before 7am and some of those in front of me joined at 5:30am.

Regarding sensor swabs, you want "Type 1" for the 1.3 H sensor. Plenty on the auction sites, but I would stick to the known makes, such as Pec Pads, Sensor Swab etc. I have looked through my supplies and I have a box of Sensor Swabs Type 1 with three left in the box. Send me a PM with your address and I will send them to you free of charge.

Two lovely shots Guy, especially the first one. I went to Skomer once filming, we had our own boat, people were begging us to take them over, they could not get on the normal sailings.
