    Tornado returning the Bristol

I posted this in the transport section, but it belongs here as well.

Aploogies for the mangled title (which I cannot edit once posted) - a case of finger beating brain - please mentally delete "the" and insert "to"

A good subject for mono and the valves being open adds a lot to it.

A bit tight on the left but at least you got the whole train in. One of my bugbears is a cropped end of train but I'm as guilty of that compositional sin as the next man. Well, we all get excited when a steam locomotive is screaming by

        Nice shot.
Years ago railwaymen might have referred to the whole train as ‘The Bristol’ if that was its destination.

            Ah, you shouldn't have

BTW I'm in cider country this weekend and will ensure much of Somerset's cider reserve is consumed - staying at Tucker's Grave

To me, steam is the best subject of all for B&W, especially when there are no modern giveaways in the shot such as Sky dishes

Any steam loco looks great in B&W!

Can I ask John, how do you add more space to one side of the photo?

Easy peasy - I just altered the crop! The original full image has plenty of room around the train.
