    Cyclist in Hull

Taken in late in the early evening against the sun EOS5DMkIV 24mm f1.4LII USM at f5.6, ISO640 1/4000sec - I thought the square block bollards looked good with dark shadows and made a composition and waited for the cyclist to complete the composition. Using RAW and JPEG with my own monchrome preset to extensuate blacks and whites in camera (but processed the final image from the RAW)

Really like the thought that's gone into this shot. Personally I'd just pull the highlights down a bit, not too much or it will just llok grey.

Like that Brian. The long shadows add some drama.

Like the idea and in this case the blown highlights work rather well.

Do wonder if there's not a little too much background competing with the cyclist. I had a play and came up with this...

          Thanks All.

....I think your crop is stronger Nigel...and the border helps.....it was always going to be a wide scene with the 24mm on the camera....thanks for your efforts.

That's really good and it had to be mono. I think the crop is stronger

            Cheers,

both excellent composition Brian and although some would say the cyclist should be riding into rather than out of the frame, I think it is spot on

Thanks John and Tom....and thanks Stan, if I'd thought of that I could have adopted a different angle and waited for a cyclist going the other way. Ill look out for opportunities on my next photowalk.

                    Re: Cyclist in Hull

I’d go with the top and right hand crops but not the left hand crop as it’s clipped the cyclist’s shadow.
