Due to my ongoing frustration at the performance of Flickr I am thinking about setting up my own website to host my pictures and closing down my Flickr account , how ever I have not the faintest idea about to go about setting one up . If anyone can give me any help / support / ideas about going down the website route it would be much appreciated.

Re: Setting up website
I'm using Zenfolio....it has all the features with a checkout that you can set your own print supplier and margins. Its a bit expensive...I set mine up for weddings so that guests can just order what they want without any extra work for me.
I'm thinking of looking for somethin cheaper next march when the current annual contract ends.
It also links to an organisation that you can buy your own domain name...instead of it being a zenfolio address

Re: Setting up website
I've been using Clikpic for several years. You can view their website at https://www.clikpic.com/. It cost me £105.00 for 3 years and £17.00 for the domain name payable every 2 years. My website details are at the bottom of this post. It's not that difficult to set up, it just takes a bit of time.

Setting up website
I currently use SmugMug for my web site. It was relatively easy to set up and use and includes the ability to incorporate an e-commerce element (subscription plan dependant) with printing and direct delivery to a customer via Loxley Colour.
I host my domain name via a company called 123.com, I was pointed towards them by Ian Theobald (aka Tigger).
However given the SmugMug cost I shall be investigating the solution that Brian has suggested.
I’ll be interested in how Steve progresses with his own web site.

Re: Setting up website
Hi Steve, You should also have a look at Photium. It is similar to clickpic, it is very easy to use and is based on templates. Photium has lots to choose from. I use Photium but i am currently on an old template so not necessarily a good example. but the new templates are very swish and very easy to set up.
Which reminds me i should update to a new template soon.
