    Hoya Polarizer filters Which one?

I am looking to replace my P series Cokin Linear Polarizing filter. I love it and it has brought me some excellent results. So i went onto Amazon to look at what Hoya had to offer. I have the PROND1000 ND filter and was really happy with it so i decided to get their Polarizing filter.

I came across two and I don't know which to get and which is better. Can someone advise me please.

Hoya 77mm HD Digital Circular Polarizing Screw-In

Just to be clear these are two different filters. They are both on Hoya's website, and just don't understand the differences.

    Many thanks

Probably quality, the HD requiring better

    Product Description

Hoya HD 77mm CIR-PL circular polariser (CPL) filter. The Hoya HD series are the best filters in the Hoya range. They are high definition, professional filters, manufactured of hardened optical glass to protect them from scratches and damage. Hoya HD CPL's feature special polarizing film, with 25% higher light transmission than standard polarising film used in most lens filters. Specialised coatings are added to the glass to make them water-proof and stain resistant. Various multi coatings further reduce reflections off the surface of the glass for maximum performance.

Re: Hoya Polarizer filters Which one?

Hi, I lost my 77mm CPL yesterday and I am now looking to replace it. Hoya made a standard CPL and a Pro 1D version . The pro 1D version of course cost

Actually it's the Hoya HD CPL that reduces transmission by only 1 stop, vs. 2 stops for the Pro1D. And that's what they're talking about -- how much the filter reduces incoming light. Unless you specifically want the darker filter, the HD version would be more versatile -- better in low light situations. Yes, it costs more. Either costs more than the Hoya F or G series. Main difference I presume is in the quality of the coatings; with filters there's a fair amount of "you get what you pay for".
