    Local Fishing Lake

Two panoramas - both from the same position, same lens 35mm f2 is, exposure on manual, one using landscape (3) the other using portrait (7) images. Both stitched using the Canon software.

    Surprised they look so different.

    Thanks for looking

Both nice but it's the portrait version for me as it's got a better aspect ratio and includes foreground and clouds.

Not sure why you are surprised... The angle of view on the long axis is greater than the short axis so inevitably you will see more foreground and background/sky....

      I prefer the second version.

I quite like doing Panorama's but have always used landscape mode. Having seen your portrait mode I am going to give it a try.

Nicely done and I think the portrait version is the better.

I shall bear that in mind when I do some Panoramas.

            Thanks for the comments.

I normally use landscape, and like the aspect ratio that achieves, but it was interesting to do the portrait version. But the Canon stitching software didn't like the portrait version, took a while before it would process the photos!

Thanks for showing us the comparison, Chris. Clearly demonstrates the value of turning the camera.

Portrait version for me, like the foreground and cloud formation - the shots more alive
