    Challenge 156 Birds

The challenge for this month is Feathered friends.

The challenge is to make an image of a bird or birds....any kind of image..... of/or relating to birds, singular or in flocks, in detail, impressionist, pictorial, conceptual in fact anything you like using your skills and creativity to make an attractive image.

This is an inclusive challenge to all members - you don't have to shoot an osprey with 12lb salmon in its talons with your 800mm f1.2 L lens and new 90D or 1DXIII at 14 frames per second....but I hope we do get some good BIF entries....a creative shot of the local pond with common mallard will be equally welcome alongside murmurating starlings (had to google that) and judged on its merits as an attractive image against all others.

Hopefully those unaccustomed to this genre will take the opportunity to try something new and in doing so you will challenge yourself and have a bit of fun at the same time.

    Judging - is based on

    * fulfilling the brief
    * a good photo - creativity is as equally important as technical excellence in this challenge- (though that comes as standard as we are all using Canon Cameras obviously)

    The usual rules apply:-

    • The competition subject shall be selected by the winner of the preceding competition who will also judge the competition.
    • One picture per person; images should conform to general image posting rules.
    • All entries to be shot with a Canon EOS camera i.e. SLR / DSLR / M & R series
    • Posted images should be taken during the running period of the competition. Any images submitted that were taken before the competition started, or after the competition has ended, will be deemed invalid.
    • Images 800 pixels widest maximum (to help those with small monitors).
    • No Photoshop frames and borders.
    • Include a title; the image must convey the theme without title description.
    • Please, NO comments on images- on this or another thread- until the round is over.
    • No canvassing e.g. “I’m thinking of posting this image for the challenge, what do you think?”
    • I will pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourite images (please don’t PM me to discuss my choices).

Closing date for entries is midnight Monday 30th September 2019

    Good luck!

I’m hoping there will be a lot more entries as this is a popular genre....if you don’t want to take the baton if you win then don’t worry as I’m happy to set the next one or open it up to another volunteer

My swans are 10 ft tall, and over their metal frame there are 10,000 goose feathers. bleached and air fluffed.

They slowly move their necks and wings but fortunately do not make aggressive attacks.................
