Nice sky but not so convinced about the foreground, the power cable pole also feels a bit randomly placed...

I had a fiddle of course...

I think both pictures have their place. With regards to the Pole I think it adds a bit of interest to the picture. You could clone it out but that's falsifies the picture. Same could be said of the vapour trail.
Nice shot Brian and nice 'Fiddle' Nigel.

I think Nigel’s edit greatly improves the overall composition of the shot but for me, there’s very little interest in the foreground.

Thanks for your comments and Nigel for your efforts...the extra foreground makes an extra layer of colour and to me the pole is essential....cheers!

That second shot looks much better Brian, the "lead-in" through the open gate makes all the difference.

                Re: Lincolnshire blue hour

I liked the original but did think the edit was stronger as it placed the pole (which, I also thought an essential element) on a third and removed the fence post. I would have cloned the contrail though.

The new version I find simply stunning as the trees frame the scene while gateway leads the eye right into it.

                Cheers,
                John

I think the second one is much better as an overall shot but do not dislike the first one as it represents what you saw at the time and you liked it enough to take a photograph
