    Kingfisher in dappled light

    Hi All,

Caught this yesterday, for a nice change I had quite a lot of action and some actual fishing to watch. Am I right in saying this one is a juvenile female? only a small part of the bill is orange and it seems to have a white tip??

And the pose I see often, I wonder what they are looking at when they do this?

                      Nice frame filling set Paul.

They often look around and up to be aware of any potential predators. Many a juvenile didn't and fell foul to a Sparrow Hawk.

Thanks Trev, Stan and Colin, much appreciated. I have seen that look many times where they seem to look up to the left from this place and the other bridge I watch from, it never occurred to me it could be watching for predators, though of course with their colour they must be easy to spot from a distance for any Sparrow Hawks
