    A bit of local rugby...

    Last Saturday, for the first time in years, I wandered along to a local rugby club with camera in hand to see what I could get...

    From this I learned a few things...

    Rugby, certainly at this level, doesn't offer too many clear sights of the ball.

    2x converters might be OK to focus at f8 with static subjects but with moving ones they suck - at least the Teleplus ones do, even on an L lens...

    The action always seems to take place far away from where you're stood regardless of how many times you move to follow it...

    Maybe really big sensor counts aren't pointless after all... I cropped this 80D image down quite a lot to get the final composition and the full size version is still a beautifully clean 15Mp, not so sure the old 40D images would stand up so well...

    Well timed Nigel.
    Agree i wouldn't recommend a x2 converter shooting at f8. you could get away with it at cricket but not fast action stuff
