            Better without the wall for me as well, I think it divides the picture and becomes the focus of attention. My preferred composition would be portrait format to emphasise the river if that is what you wanted to show. What did you have in mind?

              Ian, just love this view of either taken from the bridge or down by the river. I think you are right about the portrait format as it shows more depth in the length of the river, but Autumn trees added an extra to the shot, hence my composition.
