Help!! Replacement needed for my trusty 18-55mm

    Help!! Replacement needed for my trusty 18-55mm

    Sadly I had the unfortunate occurence of my tripod ( a manfrotto weighed down with my bag!) blow over throwing my camera and lens into wet sand...

    The camera seems fine - but the lens is knackered. Makes an awful grinding noise now whenever I try to zoom. I am concerned if I continue to use it the sand will filter through and end up in the body. This would not be covered on my insurance!

    I have an excess of £50 so I dont think it is worth claiming for the 18-55mm on it, any ideas on a good replacement, but cost is an issue cheap as poss!

    I have already... EOS 350D, 50mm f1.8, Sigma 105mm Macro, Sigma 70-300mm non apo. Oh, and a broken 18-55mm!

    Don't know what you want it for, but if you are on a tightish budget (like me) try these people for used gear. I just bought a used 5D from them for £840. They seemed to be a pretty good company. London Camera Exchange Or, if you have a local camera shop that deals in used then give them a visit.

      Hi, thanks, I will have a look. I guess mainly as a Landscape lens. Ideally looking for something with a non rotating front element! Wish I had never sold my Sigma 24-70 EX DG now....
