    Using the 'Bulb' setting

Well here is my first ever attempt at a long exposure shot, using just a torch.

I know they are not perfect but still very new to this so be gentle.

    Camera was a 450d

    F-Stop was f/8

    Iso was 100

    Exposure time overall 8 minutes.

    Any advice welcome

Excellent effort - I must try this technique sometime - thanks for technical info - will be a useful guide. Intriguing 'light-beam' on rhs of both shots. Thought it was a vapour trail at first but would have expected it to at least partially disperse between takes. Also a suggestion that you had the torch on whilst getting in/out of rear seat in second short - suggest avoid this if my diagnosis correct.
        Really good effort though!

Thanks for the kind words, funny how they can make a person feel good

As for the green streak on the right hand side, that was bearly visable when I took the picture but is so much more prominant in the picture.

It is actually a lazer on the roof of a nightclub about 20 miles from where the picture was taken.

Hopefully my next attempt will be a little better
