Size of photos for end of year showcase.

I hope you are preparing for the end of year showcase; three of your favourites from this year’s crop to share with us all over the festive season. But what should be the max size of the photo you use. I asked this in the thread regarding the competition, and I saw another thread where opinion was divided and no forum rules forthcoming. So, if there are no formal rules let’s have a show of hands to agree a standard approach for the showcase.

Longest side 1024px
OR
Longest side 800px


In either case, Max file size 800k

If there are some formal rules, please let me know and we’ll go with that.

A more elegant solution would be to install a VB plugin that resizes images so they don’t break the fixed width forum layout.
Users with normal sized screens have the option to click on a message bar at the top of the image to see the full sized image, while small screen users get to see the resized image – win win !

Yes Trev, I am sure I have seen this on another forum, but this is not within my control. May be Robert may comment on the viability of this.
