    Re: Best printer?

What you don't say is how big do you want to print and is it only a photo printer or do you want a general purpose multi function device (MFD) and what is your budget.

From my experience all the makes that you have mentioned manufacture good printers but it tends to be the inks that cost you the money rather than the initial device. Again from my experience I have found that I get best prints from devices that have separate ink cartridges and at least 5, the ink cartridges are not cheap if you buy genuine brand makes but I have found that in the long run having separate colour inks work out cheaper than having to keep replacing mulit-colour cartridges when only one colour has run out.

Not answering your question I know, I can only say that I have 2 canon printers one a dedicated photo printer that will print up to A3 and a cheap canon MFD printer that serves all of the other functions, the A3 is a Canon 1X6550 (not the best but for a cheap printer not bad) the MFD is a Canon MG5250. I personally prefer Canon to the HP.

Others I am sure will give different opinions and printer advice.

      Re: Best printer?

Well what you have said does help, any info on printers is better than no info. To be honest at the moment I only print txt, wit and with outcolour. I have never printed photos and wouldn't know were to begin in this regard. I go back to time when printing photos was really expensive. Perhaps some guidence there would be good.

I agree with what you say about having seperate colour inks, that is why I bought an Epson, so I guess that rules out HP lol. I also think that I wouldn't be printing on anything bigger than A4.

One thing I am curious about Epson printers have the print haed as part of the holder that holder the ink cartridges, or something like that, where as with HP it is part of the cartridge, so when you buy a new cartridge you are getting a nice new (and clean) print head, if I understand that all correctly. If so what does canon do, I would prefere the HP way for the print head.

And lastly is there a difference between Bubble and Inkjet, (quality wise). I understand the difference in the dispencing of the ink, but what is the quality differences like? CAn you even tell?

      Thanks again

        Re: Best printer?

Personally, I can't see past Kodak printers.
Really cheap to run and superb print quality.
I've had Epson & Canon printers in the past but they are so expensive to keep going unless you go for 3rd party inks which affect your warranty (personal experience)
It cost more for a set of Canon inks than I paid for the printer so its cheaper to buy a new printer every time.

Kodak all the way for me.

I use a HP all-in-one printer/scanner/CD printer/Fax/multi-card reader which uses 5 ink cartridges. I do like it and it satisfies my needs.

The Kodak printers (as with most printers nowadays) are great and as Samfisher states they are cheap to run as the Kodak cartridges are less expensive than other brands.

They all are, don't forget to add Kodak & Lexmark to the list.
It's all down to what you want YOUR printer to do.

                Re: Best printer?

Well I wouldn't buy a Kodak as they are unreliable as I work with pc's etc and by far the majority of faulty printers are the kodaks also I think that you will find that most of the better printers now use individual inks. I prefer Canon Printers for photo's followed closely by Epson

I have always prefered indivdual inks. I am thinking I am going to get a Cannon printer.

I use Brother no complaints with print quality 4 tanks and ink is relatively cheap.

Have always used Epson (2100 and 3800) - am very happy with both. The 3800 has huge cartridges which last and last. Very important to stick to Epson ink as the compatible ones really mess up the printer head.
