    Water

Need some help. Doing timed exposure with 35mm was so easy.
Took this shot yesterday, 400D 55-200mm 1/4 f22 full zoom.
Tried 18-55mm, but couldn't get fs higher than f18.
Tried Tv, Av, M, and P settings with no joy. Am I missing something?

    Re: Water

Are you looking to add "motion blur" to the water?

    What was your ISO setting?

In those light conditions, you'll probably need to add a Neutral Density filter on the front, at least 2-stops, and maybe even 3! That'll slow the shutter down for you!

If I'm off the beat here; what is it you want to do?

Yes, I wanted an icicle affect. Will buy an ND filter and try it again.
      Thaks for the tip.

Could work out cheaper to go early or later when the light is a bit lower I think shooting at the right time gives a more pleasing effect. Nice pic by the way, the water effect is almost there. You probably need shutter speed of a couple of seconds at the fastest to really let the soft water effect develop. Peter

Probably - but NDs & ND Grads are still a good investment anyway, specially for landscape imaging.
